"Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu" — a person is a person through other people.
Thoriso stands with families
when the month runs long.
We're a community-led non-profit reaching the needy through food support, youth mentorship, elder care and hands-on outreach — door to door, block by block.

Built by the community, for the community.
Thoriso started with a simple observation: the people best placed to help a struggling family are usually the neighbours down the road. We organise that goodwill — turning individual acts of care into a steady, reliable programme of support.
Every outreach we run is planned with the people it serves, not just for them. We ask what's needed, we show up consistently, and we measure success in relationships, not just numbers.
-
Dignity firstSupport is offered quietly and respectfully — never as a spectacle.
-
Local knowledgeOur volunteers live in the communities they serve and know who needs help.
-
ConsistencyWe show up on a schedule people can count on, not just in a crisis.
-
Open booksAnyone who gives or volunteers can ask exactly where their contribution goes.

Rapid-response blankets, clothing and essentials for families hit by fire, flood or sudden loss.
Health & Wellness Outreach
Basic health screenings, clinic referrals and wellness talks brought directly to communities.
Why "Thoriso"
Thoriso means praise — for the quiet work of showing up.
- We go to people, not the other way round.Outreach means our volunteers walk the streets and knock on doors rather than waiting for someone to ask.
- We build long relationships, not one-off drop-offs.Families we support are visited and followed up with, week after week.
- We keep it community-run.Most of our volunteers are residents of the areas we serve — support that understands the neighbourhood it comes from.
